MINISTRIES AT MENDOCINO CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

As Mendocino Christian Fellowship (MCF) is experiencing growth, we are doing our best to discover what God has for us in actions that will minister to each other and our community. As a result, we are discovering gifts and talents in our membership that lend themselves to specific areas of service. In addition to the traditional expectations of teaching and preaching, we are meeting some important needs within our community. Currently, we have a weekly Prayer Table set up in front of the church for people in our neighborhood or just passing through our beautiful village of Mendocino, to sit down and share their prayer needs with us. We have been hosting the Prayer Table for several years and have seen conversions to Christ and several miracles to answered prayer. The opportunities to share the gospel and testify of our own salvations present themselves every week. Our simple tent sign that we post by the table reads, “FREE PRAYERS” on one side and “FREEING PRAYERS” on the other side. The blessings are many and often the visitors to the table are Christians who pray for us and this ministry. Currently, we have the Prayer Table on Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to Noon. Come by and see us if you need special prayer or just to meet us and share whatever is on your heart. You can see pictures of the Prayer Table in our Church Life” gallery.

  • Discipleship Training

Essential to obedience to Christ who said, “Go into all the world and make disciples,” we are offering a class every Sunday morning to train and equip Christians for the work of the ministry in becoming and making disciples. There are 20 videos that can be seen by website visitors and classroom attendees that will educate and inform on the basic knowledge of the scriptures, and will also equip the serious disciple with study tools, historical understandings, and questions and answers for those who want to go deeper into the disciplines of God. The class meets at 10:00am through 10:45 at the church for those who want to participate in interactive discussions. The videos can also be watched by clicking the “Discipleship Training” Tab on this website. Growing is more than getting older. It is maturing in Christ. This class will help provide the tools and information you need to become that Disciple of Christ, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.

  • Website and Communications

This website is also an archive of sermons, both audio and video, delivered by various ministers including our own Pastor, Jim Kirby. The sermon videos are updated weekly.

  • Worship and Music

Our Worship Director has several wonderful gifts. She is not only an excellent musician but she is also gifted in fine arts as a quilting artist and choral leader. She plays piano and keyboard and has many years experience in leading worship.

  • Missions and World Outreach

As we recognize our privileged place in the world, we also see the need to recognize the plight of the poor around us. We have a ladies in our church who have organized an in-home sewing ministry that fashions clothing for young children in need. There are a few pictures in our Church Life gallery that show these dresses on display as a means of introducing others to the larger ministry, Samaritans Purse, by which these dresses and other items are packed and shipped. The ladies meet with other volunteers to sew together and enjoy friendships. If you are interested or would like to donate material or supplies for this ongoing ministry, please give us a call and we will introduce you to one of the group’s members. There’s always room for another volunteer!

  • Sound Engineering and Video Production

Another ongoing ministry is the Sound and Video Engineering required for creating sermon video recordings each Sunday and outdoor, special event sound staging. We have all the equipment we need. We have the desire to also perform home-grown skits and plays and so will need to grow in the areas of lighting and set sound management. Part of our desire to serve the community will lead us into other ministries that will require additional sound management. This technical area of ministry will be growing along with our outreach efforts.

  • Prayer and Intercession

Like most church families, we pray for church direction, regional church welfare and direction, city, state, and country-wide Divine intervention and guidance.

Our ministries will form and grow as we discover more gifted individuals in our midst who have the desire to reach into our community in areas of evangelism and mercy. The church does not exist for itself. We are indebted to the lost to bring the Good News of a loving and caring God. We sincerely invite you to consider visiting the church and hopefully you will subsequently consider becoming part of our efforts to lift up Christ in every expression of ministry as it is taking form and expression here at MCF. Please see our individual ministry pages for more detail.

  • Prayer Table In-Reach and Outreach

MCF has also been setting up a Prayer Table outside the church on Tuesdays for several years continuously. This table is where we meet our neighbors and people passing through on vacation. We freely give our testimonies of salvation, take prayer request, pray for the needs of those who come to the table to share their hearts with us, and we give away bibles for those who are in earnest of learning the scriptures. We have witnessed six visitors giving their lives to Christ and we enjoy continuing fellowship with those who come to the table for regular prayer. This is a joy for all who have participated and continue to meet new people every week.

  • Bible Studies

Currently, we have a Monday morning bible study in a member’s home. The Book of Philippians has been engaging us for several weeks now and the overall home study has been continuing for about 4 years. We move from book-to-book and have not used books other than the bible except for commentary of word study reference. This is a very comfortable home setting and everyone is growing in their faith and knowledge.

  • Celebrate Recovery Ministry

For those who are not familiar with this ministry, it is a Christian-based ministry to help those who are recovering from many different kinds of addictions. If you consider Alcoholics Anonymous as an example of a recovery organization, we differentiate Celebrate Recovery to the extent that we emphasize the Bible and Jesus to give a specific name to our Helper and Guide. It is not “God as we consider or imagine Him to be”, but God as He has revealed Himself to man for who He really is. That revelation is in the person and power of Jesus Christ to heal, forgive, and save us from our sins…including those that involve addictions.
